BLANK PREPARATION
- Tube length = 60.4mm. Recommended drill size = 11/32
MOUNTING ON THE LATHE
- The Section Connector is slightly larger in diameter than the Mechanism Connector. Therefore mount the larger of the two bushes at the nib end and the smaller of the two bushes at the clip end.
ASSEMBLY
- Remember that the diameters at either end of the turned blank are not the same. Make sure you’re going to press in the components at the correct ends.
- Pass the Clip gasket over the tenon of the Mechanism Connector and then press the Mechanism Connector into the tube.
- Press the Section Connecter into the tube.
- Screw the Mechanism firmly into the Mechanism Connector.
- Insert the Refill and place the Spring over it, then screw the Section into the Section Connecter.
- After testing for correct operation, the Finial can be pushed onto the Mechanism so that it sits inside the recess in the Mechanism Connector. If you have strong thumbs, this can normally be done by hand and does not require a press. If not, just use your pen press.
- In use, the refill is normally accessed by unscrewing the Section rather than by unscrewing the Mechanism, but in fact it can be accessed either way.
