Yorkshire Grit Microfine Abrasive Paste is finer than Yorkshire Grit Woodturners Abrasive Paste, and can be used either on its own after traditional sanding to 600 grit, or as a follow on after Yorkshire Grit Woodturners Abrasive Paste if you wish to produce an even finer surface finish.
It is applied and used exactly the in the same way as Yorkshire Grit Woodturners Abrasive Paste.
Please note however, that despite any advertising you may have read about abrasive paste elsewhere, they all use wax as a carrier and are therefore not a suitable abrasive if you want to apply a chemical finish afterwards, such as lacquers, CA finishes, varnishes and the like. Although you might think in the short term that the effect looks great, chemical finishes will not will adhere to wax, even if you believe you've thoroughly removed it all, and the finish will have no resilience. You can put waxes on top of chemical finishes, but you can't put chemical finishes on top of wax. Abrasive pastes have their place, and rightly so, but they are by no means a "one size fits all" alternative to traditional abrasives.
So, having given words of caution about abrasive pastes in general, it has to be said that Yorkshire Grit Microfine Abrasive Past is brilliant stuff, especially on an acrylic pen blank or an ebonite pen blank, and we highly recommend it for the right applications. It eliminates the need for a pile of traditional abrasives in a range of grits because it mutates from a fine abrasive to an ultrafine abrasive as it works. It is therefore ideal for woods that are going to have a wax or an oil finish as a final overcoat, and for resins (including acrylic or ebonite pen blanks and stabilised hybrid pen blanks) that perhaps apart from a topcoat of Microcrystalline wax to keep the fingerprints off, don't need a final overcoat at all.
